Salads are simply a mixture of various vegetables that are mostly eaten raw. Green salads refer to a mixture of various green vegetables, usually consisting of a variety of leafy green vegetables. There are many types of salad. The salads are very healthy foods to eat because they provide many benefits including high amounts of nutrition and lower calories.

The proper salad mixture provides not only high amounts of nutrition, but it also makes the vegetables taste good through the right combinations. Out of the many salads we are going to focus on the green salad in this article.

The green salad can be prepared in many ways, according to your taste and preferences. However there is a basic way of preparing the salad and it is:

The main ingredients would be lettuce and baby spinach. It is up to you to choose the lettuce that you prefer, I usually like to include romaine, green leaf or red leaf lettuce (or a combination of all 3).

To give some color and taste to the salad we have to add some toppings. The toppings could include: tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, celery, bell pepper, fresh mushrooms, cannellini beans, sunflower seeds, red onions, cilantro, chives, sliced almonds, fruit bites, etc. You can choose just about any fruit or vegetable to add, get creative and try different combinations of toppings!

Preparation is quite easy as none of the ingredients are cooked. So the steps for preparation include:

– Wash the vegetables thoroughly with clean water, you should ensure that you get rid of any dirt. This is to prevent you from getting any infection as the food will not be cooked. Thus it will not have its germs killed by the heat thus its being totally germ free depends on your washing. You may consider using a chemical-free produce wash that can be found at any grocery store.
– Then you should dice the toppings into the sizes and shapes that you want.
– Then the last step will be mixing the vegetables together.
– After mixing the vegetables you should try to make it attractive as possible, I like to use some of the toppings to decorate the top of the bowl.

Salads are the easiest meals to prepare thus it should not be a problem including them in all your meals. They provide great nutrition and are a perfect way to add a healthy dish to your menu.
